Mission
Our consultancy services are structured around three core labs, each offering specialized testing, quality control, and advisory services.
Concrete Technology Lab Services:
The Concrete Technology Laboratory is well-equipped to conduct a wide range of experiments and tests essential for understanding the properties and performance of concrete and its constituent materials. The laboratory houses a Compression Testing Machine (CTM) with 3000 KN capacity for determining the compressive strength of concrete cubes and cylinders. Workability of concrete is assessed using the Slump Test Apparatus, Vee-Bee Consistometer, and Compaction Factor apparatus. The Impact Value Testing Machine and Aggregate Crushing Value apparatus help to evaluate the toughness and wear resistance of aggregates. The Motorised Sieve Shaker facilitates accurate gradation analysis, while the Oven is used for drying and moisture content determination. Cement testing equipment includes the Le Chatelier's Apparatus for measuring soundness and the Vicat's Apparatus for determining the setting time of cement. Aggregate shape characteristics are analysed through Flakiness gauge and Elongation gauge.
These facilities support quality assurance and material certification for various construction projects. The laboratory caters to industry clients, contractors, and government organizations by providing reliable test reports, aiding in material selection, mix design validation, and ensuring compliance with relevant IS codes and standards.
Mechanics of Solids (MoS) Lab Services:
The Mechanics of Solids Laboratory at our institute is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to studying and evaluating the mechanical behaviour of engineering materials. The lab is equipped with advanced testing systems, including a 1000 kN Universal Testing Machine (UTM) and a 500 Nm Torsion Testing Machine, enabling precise and comprehensive assessment of material properties. We conduct a wide range of standardized tests such as tension, compression, shear, flexural, torsion, impact, and hardness tests, along with specialized evaluations on tiling materials to determine their structural performance. Under the supervision of qualified faculty and trained technical staff, the laboratory provides accurate, reliable, and industry-grade testing services. We also offer material testing consultancy to external agencies, industries, and research professionals, delivering certified test results and technical guidance for product development, quality assurance, and research activities. Our facility is committed to maintaining the highest standards of precision, safety, and professionalism in all testing operations.
Geotechnical Engineering Lab Services:
The Geotechnical Engineering Lab at our Center of Excellence offers comprehensive laboratory soil testing services essential for foundation design, earthwork stability, and road pavement construction. Our consultancy covers a full spectrum of tests, including Grain Size Analysis and Atterberg Limits (Liquid, Plastic, and Shrinkage Limits) for soil classification, and determining fundamental properties like Specific Gravity and Moisture Content. For field applications, we perform the Proctor Compaction Test to establish optimal moisture content and maximum dry density. Crucially, we determine soil strength parameters using the Unconfined Compression Test (UCS) and the Direct Shear Test to assess the soil's resistance to failure. Furthermore, the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) Test is conducted to evaluate the subgrade strength of soils for pavement design, ensuring reliable and durable infrastructure. Our detailed reports provide the necessary engineering parameters for safe and economical construction.
